I grew tired of the christian church breaking my heart... and offering promises it could never deliver.

I had no voice, no autonomy, no purpose that was set on my own terms. I also had no FUN! Life was grey, boring, and terrifying. The threat of sin, hell, and falling into the hands of an angry god who would relish in punishing or humiliating me was TOO much on my body.

I was expected to be perfect, chaste, holy, and pure. More than anything I wanted to be happy, courageous, bold, audacious.

I wanted to be my own authority.

I wanted to stop being afraid of, well, everything.

I wanted to have juicy and delicious life experiences that the church forbade.

I left the church because after my parents, the church, and the christian god kept telling me know... I was finally ready to tell myself HELL YES!

I've been where you are. I'm a former church girl. I'm the descendant of preachers, teachers, prophets, prayer warriors, church mothers, and clergy.

I love relaxing by turning on a Tubi movie, grabbing a stack of magazines and some glue to make art for the purpose of creative expression. It's my time to let my inner children play!

I love crafting & collaging

The work of Black women writers has made me the woman I am. My world is better because of writers like Toni Morrison, Audre Lorde, Tayari Jones, Sobonfu Some, Zora Neale Hurston, Lucille Clifton, Gloria Naylor, Ann Petry, Tayari Jones, Deesha Philyaw, Bernice L. McFadden... they've all informed my work and enriched my life.
